Happy New Year 2007 - New Year Resolutions
Tuesday, January 2nd, 20072nd January 2007 5.31pm
Dear all, after all the mass forwarded sms and emails on new years eve and new years day, I would like to take this opportunity to wish each one of you a very happy new year. This will be the 26th time I am celebrating new years day. One thing i always remember when the clock strikes 12 is that nearly every one will ask you what is your new year’s resolution? So lets see if I can at least list down 10 and see if i can make it through at least 50% of them until 2008.
1) To spend more time with my family :- ever since 2004, i made a promise to my Dad to spend more time with family. Now once again, i shall take it onto myself to ensure i spend EVEN MORE time with them. After all, they are the ones who have witnessed not only my greatest pinnacles of success but also my lowest downfalls and yet through both times they have stuck by me. Trust me to all those who do not believe in family "… Blood is always thicker then water…"
2) To travel at least once :- Year after year, i have planned a looooooong holiday to somewhere but somehow or another it never goes according to plan. The past 2 years have been down to mainly work commitments and strangely enough wierd bodily injuries. Xmas 2005, tore my knee ligaments/ Xmas 2006 hurt my back. … well that leads to my 3rd new year resolution.
3) To stay inury free :- Alot of you know me as this energizer who seems to go on forever and ever. This year, I think I should take more rest. I lost a close family friend (who does not smoke, drink and does alot of exercise) to a sudden heart attack. They say stress can kill so always remember that if you worried about work, relationships, etc etc… everyone has problems but the somehow or another it will always be resolved and the sun will always rise the next day.
4) To be as happy go lucky as I can be :- We live in a society where we complain and worry non-stop… I always wondered if I were to die the very next minute whether I have had done enough or left a lasting legacy. The answer would be NO but then again… i always try to build on my achievements on a daily basis and if fate would decide that I would need to go to the great beyond, I would want to go happy and know i HAVE TRIED my best to live a small lasting memory in this world.
5) To be more career minded and to be successfull :- There is a saying that "Love will fly out the window once poverty hits the food table" and that is very very true. Always be mindfull that I not only have to take care of myself but my family as well. I wont kill myself in the process but I have to always ensure that there is a lil something placed aside for the distant future.
6) Sarting a very satisfactory and experience gaining hobby:- Havent really put much thought into this but I already have many hobbies even as i type this, sports, comic collection etc etc but I think i would like to start something along the lines of language or something. Maybe learn to speak Mandarin or Japanese.
7) To go to Anfield!!! (ok ok i had to put this in here) even though i dont think 2007 will be the year i finally set foot on this wonderous place. To those who know me well enough, you will all know why i need to go here
To slow down on alchohol consumption : I know some of you are already rolling your eyes when I added this into my new year resolutions. Heck I must at least try.
9) To spend more time with my cherished friends and to do wild and crazy things. As the years go by, we are not growing any younger and I do not want to reach a certain old age and think back "Heck.. why didnt i do that?" Not krazy things which might endanger our lives or we would live to regret but things which our grandchildren can laugh at and marvel at. We shall see how things go.
10) To always live up to promises. I firmly believe that "Men’s Honour is in their Words which they Utter". Make a promise and always stand by it.
I have many other things I would like to do in 2007 but lets see if we can go by with the above 10 first.
